Mission immpossible
  • is similar to James bond because the way the main character is represented is of a high status and is theoretically the best at what he does which is to be a spy/secret agent going behind enemy lines to kill the antagonist(evil) so that he can save the world from being ruled or manipulated by him. Also he goes through life risking missions, in which he runs for his life at the brink of death. The way that this also relates to james bond is that he works alone meaning he's left to his own devices its him and his goal to complete his mission.

Casino Royale

1.       The formal wear conforms to the thriller genre because in the thriller films they are usually dressed in particularly smart attire which adds the effect of enigma to the actual movie in respect to making them look smart and honourable. Also the gun in the image has a suppressor on it to show that bond is a subtle agent and plays things smart in the fact that he doesn’t. Also to convey the movie to the thriller genre they use there typical James bond symbol (007) and make it into a gun which is a convention of the thriller genre. Also the language used in the title of the film make the film sound as if it is not cheap and is of value.  This gives inspiration in the fact that to make our final product a thriller we know what conventions we need to use in order to hit that target and what kind of story line we need to create.
2.       The character is represented as a well-known agent who is the best in his field of work to the fact that he goes alone on missions and gets all the ladies because of his good looks and charm. He appears like he carries a lot of respect with him as he has flashy cars and nice houses and everything just goes according to the plan. The codes do help him as he is most of the time wearing suits which portrays him as wealthy and of high intelligence. The girl is represented as mysterious as she is faded in the background which an eerie stare towards bond as if she is going to betray him or  that she has something up her sleeve.
3.       The way that this film is marketed is that they aim it specifically at their target genre which is the thriller genre, you know this straight away because the object bond is holding in his hand is a gun which straight away tells the viewer that there is going to be some sort of death in the film telling them that the film is a thriller film. Also they hide the bond girl in the background to spread enigma throughout the viewer’s mind because they now wonder what roles she has in the film whether she is a real bond girl of if she is somebody else.  The reason why enigma is a good way to market this product is because the main theme throughout thrillers is enigma as is plays a big role in the murder mystery.
4.       The film is very conventional as it carries a lot of mystery and murder and holds the idea of its now or never so this creates loads of drama and tension throughout the audience as the effect of time comes into place like is he going to make it or is he going to be late this makes it very conventional to the thriller genre as there is a dangerous situation that can only be prevented by a doing something life threatening this conforms to the genre. Also the film consists of killing and violence in formal where which is like the typical uniform of a thriller film. On the opening weekend of the opening of the film it produced a massive $40,833,156 which made it quite successful.
5.       The way how this film is going to help us with the creation of our film is that it will allow us to take different techniques to build up tension and create a larger sense of enigma by having a character with a double personality when it comes to good and evil.  Basically this will make the audience have conflicting views on whether she is a good character or not. Also the idea of having a protagonist and an antagonist is cool because everyone likes a good vs. evil battle and because it’s a thriller it’s not certain that good will conquer evil.

Media Evaluation
Our original idea was to act out a scene of a meeting in which the two actors exchange information resulting in the assignment of killing the boss’s wife through assassination.
But that idea was kind of vague and didn’t carry the type of enigma that we wanted to implement in our project. For example in the end we changed it into a Hospital scene whereby the head doctor breaks the news to the patients father, but we didn’t make it bait that it was a hospital scene till near the end of the clip as this kept the audience guessing and puzzled to find out the storyline and who the characters are and what’s going to happen in the scene.
Our group was split up in a diverse way in which the people that took on roles were specialised for them which made the quality of the filming that much better and so the moral of the group was great and the chemistry of the group was good as everything fell in to place and helped acquire a successful project. Tom and Gabby took the role of filming the film as they had a clearer vision in their head of what they wanted to happen in the scene and how they would like to film it so it seemed as they had the required qualities to film the project. I and Adan took the acting roles in the film clip because we felt that we could keep in role and that we would be the best suited people to be filmed in the project.  And if we ever worked together again I’d make sure I would take more of an important role in the making of the film as it would help to make the success of the group even greater and would maybe try and do a different role i.e.: camera man so that I would be able to diversify myself in the whole creation process of film making as this would make me more useful if not acting then filming I could help do.

The production paper work helped very much as it allowed getting a sophisticated idea much easier than expected. Our objective was to create a scene going by guidelines set by the teacher. So the group came together and along the guidelines of the paper work allowed us to gather an idea which suited us all in our specialties which made it easier for us all to grasp unto. The production work that needed more depth for our film opening is the storyboard because it never stated what camera angles or filming techniques were involved in the scene and didnt state what exactly was going to happen in each scene so it was unclear as to what was going to happen next creating a little bit of confusion throughout.

The way in which our groups initial idea evolved is that we changed it from a assassination set up type of scene to a doctor giving bad news scene this was a drastic change from what we was going to do as it wasnt so dramatic and entailed more enigma so it made it more of a thriller production rather than action also because of the room was well lit it allowed the hospital scene to seem more realistic because hospitals normally have a well-lit environment and are more calm so there was more tension built up and created a greater aura of enigma throughout the audience as their minds are confused as to who each character is. Adan was the person who put forward the idea of the doctor scene. Yes this worked well as we were very good at cooperation and the team moral was good.  Maybe the peoples roles in the group could be changed as this would allow other people to gain skills in different parts of media.
